Mrs Rebecca Barnett
(Headteacher), BA (Hons), MA, PGCE
Mrs Barnett joined us in September 2016 when she relocated from Kenya having worked as Head at Braeburn Mombassa International School for 3 years. Mrs Barnett lives in the Ribble Valley with her husband, Dan, and their two daughters, Poppy and Willa, both of whom attend Westholme. Mrs Barnett relishes Westholme life with its warm family and community atmosphere and loves being part of a dedicated staff team.
Mrs J Dixon
(Deputy Head/Early Years Lead/SENDCo), BA (Hons) QTS in Primary Education with English Language and Literature
Mrs Dixon is delighted to part of a wonderful team of staff at the Nursery and Infant school. She has been lucky enough to have taught in every year group at Westholme Infants and has worked closely with every teacher. As well as being Deputy Head, Mrs Dixon leads the Early Years department, working closely with?the Nursery Manager and the Early Years Team. She teaches phonics and maths to the children who attend ‘Superstars’, our Pre School class, and LAMDA to Year 1 and 2 children as well as teaching Year 5 RE. Mrs Dixon also coordinates SEND within the Early Years and Key Stage 1 and works closely with outside agencies to review the children’s progress. In her spare time Mrs Dixon enjoys spending time with her husband, three children and Labradors, Nahla and Winnie. As a family they love the outdoors, walking in the Lake District and camping in the UK and abroad.

Mrs C Thompson BA Hons
Nursery/Pre School Manager
In my role as Nursery/Pre School Manager I lead and manage all areas of the Nursery and Pre School. ?I work closely with our Deputy Headmistress, to ensure that the youngest of our children are supported and catered for as they begin their Westhlome journey. I also support Mrs Barnett to ensure that the leadership team has a clear vision and drive to take both the nursery and preschool and Infant school to excellency.
I feel privileged to be part of such a strong and dedicated staff team, as well as wonderful families and children whom have such high expectations but also such amazing partnerships with both Nursery and Pre School and the Infant School. I live in Bolton with my husband Edward and two sons George and Harry and our cocker spaniel Ollie, as a family we love walking and have a caravan in Aberdaron on the Lyn Peninsula Wales.
Mrs C Bagot –?Deputy Nursery Manager?
BA (Hons) in Early Years
Mrs Bagot is a key person within the Superstars Room and can often be found covered from head to toe in flour after getting messy with the children. She loves to work with the children in small groups, carrying out one to one activities to build on skills as well as using group times to share favourite stories and songs.
Mrs A Howard (Mat Leave)
Senior Leader BA Hons in Education and Special Educational Needs
Mrs Howard qualified as a Nursery Nurse in 2011 and then continued her professional development by achieving a BA Honours in Education and Special Educational Needs in 2015. Mrs Howard takes pride in providing the best care for the children, providing a stimulating environment, encouraging the children to grow and reach their potential. In her spare time, Mrs Howard enjoys baking.
Mrs H Ahmed
Level 3 Childcare NCC, Level 3 Special Education Needs NCC Level 3, Fda in Teaching and Learning Support in Primary Level 5
Mrs Ahmed works in the Superstars Room with the Pre School children. She has three children who all attend Westholme. In her spare time, Mrs Ahmed enjoys cooking, reading and spending time with her family and friends.
Miss J Cowgill
Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Children and Young Peoples Workforce (Early Years Educator Childcare)
Miss Cowgill has recently? completed her apprenticeship in the Superstars Room where she focussed on outdoor learning. She has now moved to the Rising Stars room where her favourite part of her job is seeing the progress the children are making, and the cuddles! Miss Cowgill enjoys baking, cooking, DIY, exploring, trampolining and jogging.
Mrs A Mansoor
Level 3 Diploma in Children an Young People’s Workforce – Early Years and Childcare
I was delighted to join Westholme Early Years Department as an Early Years Practitioner, in 2018. ?I am currently a key person based in the Rising Stars Room with my lovely toddlers however I am flexible to work anywhere when needed! Since qualifying as an Early Years practitioner I have worked with all ages giving me extensive experience as well as continuously gaining new experiences within the early years. I enjoy taking part in new challenges and planning exciting and stimulating activities for the children to be creative and extend their learning and development.
Miss C Mitchell
BA (Hons) Education
Miss Mitchell is a key person in the Superstars Room. After qualifying as a practitioner in 2011 she went onto study a BA Honours degree in Education before joining Westholme in 2016. During the day Miss Mitchell can be found playing in the garden or leading ‘wake up, shake up’ getting the children energised and ready to learn. In her spare time, when not at Ewood Park, Miss Mitchell is still in early years mode planning lots of fun things to do with her four nieces
Miss C Nield (Maternity Leave)
BTEC National Diploma in Children’s Care – Level 3
Miss Nield enjoys getting messy and creative alongside the children and can often be found singing and reading stories while enjoying lots of cuddle and snuggle time.
Miss S Patel
Level 3 CACHE Diploma in Childcare and Education
Miss Patel has had many years of experience working with children in a Pre School setting. She joined Westholme in March 2018 and has settled in well. In her spare time she enjoys going on holidays and spending time with her family.
Mrs R Sawer
Level 3 Apprentice in Children and Young People’s Workforce – Early Years Educator
I joined the Westholme Team as a level 3 Apprentice in Early Years Education in April 2018.? Having worked within my family business and then having a family of my own, I decided on a career change.? I am delighted to have been given the opportunity to study again and I am really enjoying using my own experience as a parent to care for and support the children across the Early Years Department.? I love to organise fun activities for the children and reading with them.? When away from work, I am a keen cook and love getting into the outdoors with my family.

Miss Whaite works in the Early Years Department as an Early Years Practitioner level 3 Diploma in Children and Young People’s Workforce ( Early Years Educator). Miss Whaite enjoys creating new experiences for the children to learn and have fun. She enjoys getting anything messy out for the children to explore the different textures. Miss Whaite enjoys singing nursery rhymes to the children whilst having lots of cuddle time.

Mr D Barnett

Mr Barnett enjoys sports, travel and outdoor pursuits. He is enjoying working with the Nursery and Infant School children in his weekly Gym Tots sessions.
Mrs S Barrett
Mrs Barrett has a long association with Westholme, being an Old Girl, starting school at Billinge House when she was three years old. She has one of her own children at the school and is presently teaching in Year 2. Mrs Barrett loves cooking for her family and friends, and reading a good book!
Mrs H Burton
BA (Hons), QTS Edge Hill College
Mrs Burton began her connection with Westholme in 1983 when she joined the school as a Year 7 pupil. After completing her degree she returned as a Year 4 class teacher before taking a break with her two children. Mrs Burton then returned to teach music at the former Boys’ Junior School and then back to the Junior School. She is now also enjoying getting to know the smallest members of the Westholme family whilst teaching music at the Infant School. Mrs Burton lives in Blackburn with her husband, children Charles and Ella and their recent addition to the family, a puppy called Barney.

Miss S Cole
BA (Hons) Early Years and Health
Miss Cole is classroom assistant in Year 2. During the holidays, she is one of the leaders for W Club. She loves going on leisurely bike rides, swimming and attending a Zumba class twice a week. She has a huge collection of wacky and unique earrings (over 1000 at the last count!), many of which she has made herself. She enjoys catching up with friends and family, eating out and trying new places.
Miss M Furness

Miss Furness is excited for the forthcoming academic year as she will be teaching Swimming to the Infant School children. In her spare time, she plays netball, runs and goes to the gym.
Mrs A Ghanbari
NVQ3 in Children’s Care, Learning & Development
Mrs Ghanbari supports the children at lunchtime and playtime in her role as lunch support; she helps to ensure that the children eat a balanced lunch as well as helping, playing and supervising on the playground.
Miss S Guest
Level 3 Early Years Educator
Miss Guest has recently completed her apprenticeship within the Early Years Department where she loved incorporating her knowledge and experience of Drama to enrichments and activities. In Miss Guest’s spare time she performs in shows and enjoys travelling with her family and friends. She is enjoying supporting the children in Reception this year and working with Mrs Carr.
Mr P Harrison
BA (Hons), Manchester, PGCE
Mr Harrison has taught at Westholme since 2006. As well as working with a Year 4 class, he loves the opportunity of teaching computing to all the children in infants and juniors, and is renowned across the school for his sense of humour – so he says! He is fanatical about sport, especially cricket and football, and is a long suffering supporter of Everton FC. Mr Harrison is married with two sons, both of whom thrived during their time at Westholme.
Mr A Hoole
Mr Hoole joined us in 2016. He was a self employed joiner by trade and he is making full use of his skills in his new role at the Infant School!
Mr T McKenna
Mr McKenna is a member of the Maintenance Team at Westholme School who works mainly at the Infant School, having previously worked at what was the Boys’ Junior School.
Mrs K Martin
Mrs Martin has over 25 years experience of childcare, child minding and running a playgroup before joining Westholme After School staff in 2006, later that year also joining the Nursery team. She is now leader of After School care and also helps with W Club during the holidays. In her spare time she enjoys cookery, hosting dinner parties, and city breaks
Mrs V Milnes

Mrs Milnes is a Year 1 class teacher. She has two children who attended the school and in her spare time she enjoys skiing, cooking, reading and spending time with her family and friends.
Miss R Oliver
Secretary, Level 3 NVQ in Business and Administration
Miss Oliver is our School Secretary and joined us in January 2017. She has a cat called Pippin, 3 giant African land snails and 2 fish. In her spare time, she loves to renovate old furniture, paint, garden and keeps herself active by attending Pilates classes. Miss Oliver is currently busy planning her wedding.

Miss Shaw has worked in Pre School and Reception for many years at Westholme and is now working alongside Mrs Milnes in Year 1.
Mrs D Thorpe

Mrs Thorpe is passionate about all things French, especially the food! She teaches French at the Infant, Junior and Senior Schools and finds it particularly satisfying to see the progress the children make as they move through from Reception to Year 7. It is fortunate that she enjoys travelling as apart from moving between the three school sites she has a daughter who lives in Brussels and two sons who both live in London. Whenever she has any free time she enjoys walking with her husband, reading, cooking and visiting friends all over the country.
