All Westholme parents and staff automatically become members of the Westholme Association which exists to foster good relations between parents, past pupils and the school and to arrange a wide variety of social and fund-raising activities.
The Committee meets at least once a term. This is organised by the parents. A number of staff from all three Westholme departments serve on the Committee. More information regarding the Westholme Association events can be found by clicking the links on the right hand side. For further information on how to join the Committee, please contact the Chairperson, Mrs Helen Berry on firstname.lastname@example.org?or via any school office.

The Westholme Association Review of 2018 – 2019
The Westholme Association Committee host a variety of events throughout the academic year, some social and some for fundraising. Any money that we raise is then used to provide children with that “little something extra” and to enhance their experience of School life.
So what have we done this year?
The first event that we held this year was the Second-hand Uniform sale, held at Beardwood Bank in September. This was ably organised by our uniform co-ordinator, Joanne Hancox, and it provided an opportunity for parents to purchase quality second-hand uniform at discounted prices. This sale raised an impressive ￡1,700 and I would like to thank all those parents who had donated uniform for us to sell. We also paid ￡1,190 back to parents in respect of uniform sold on their behalf – a service we offer for the higher value items of uniform. Our second sale of the year was in March and raised ￡1,523.
In February, we organised our first social event of the year. Parents and children came along to Blackburn Rugby Club, where they enjoyed a hotpot supper and were entertained with a combination of Bingo and a Quiz. Thanks go to Derek Ward-Thompson, our Quiz Master, and Paul Charlson, our very able Bingo Caller. This event returned a small profit of ￡350.
Our major fundraiser for this academic year was the Spring Fayre, held at Wilmar Lodge on 30th March. As always, there was a fantastic turnout from all areas of the school who enjoyed a great selection of stalls, activities and amusements for all ages. There was a lovely atmosphere around the place and a real sense of the Westholme community. Thanks to all those who supported the event by either helping on the day, making donations, spending money and helping to clear up. The event raised a whopping ￡4,355 – so thank you for making it a success.
Just before the May half term, the Junior School children enjoyed their annual disco organised by the Association. After a picnic tea and a visit to the in-house tuck shop, the children went into the hall, where they were greeted by Taz who entertained them with singing, dancing and lots of fun games. As always, much fun was had by all.
At the time of writing, our final two events of the year – the Golf Day on 28th June and Infants Disco on 5th July are still to take place.
So how will the funds be spent?
Every year, approximately ￡6,000 of the funds that we raise are spent on repeat items such as trophies for Sports Awards, Prizegiving book tokens, school trips and leavers gifts. In addition to this, there are some more significant items of expenditure that are worthy of mention.
As you may be aware, the lighting system in the Croston Theatre has been substantially upgraded and we have contributed ￡8,306 towards the cost of this work. All children across the three sites benefit from the facilities of the theatre and we therefore considered this to be a worthy item of expenditure. In addition, we have purchased the Sphero coding equipment for use at the Infant and Junior Schools and the children are now enjoying learning how to use this piece of kit, worth ￡1,800.
To ensure that the Association continues to thrive, we are looking for new members to join the Committee and if you would like to become more involved, then please contact myself or one of the other Committee members at any of our functions. Being part of the Westholme Association committee is an excellent and very rewarding way to meet other parents and make new friends. I hope that you will consider joining us.
Thank you for your support over the academic year.
